Log into CM/ECF Live Database
CM/ECF System

To log into CM/ECF you must have a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

The below will instruct you how to Log into CM/ECF's live database. Note: Please be aware that these instructions are not complete instructions for using Firefox or Internet Explorer. It should be sufficient for locating CM/ECF in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court's web site.

  1. Access Firefox (3.5) or Explorer (7.0 or 8.0) 
    1. Locate the Foxfire or Internet Explorer in your Program files (or a shortcut icon on your desktop, if available.) 
  2. Access the "Live"  CMECF system.
    1. Type "https://ecf.casb.uscourts.gov/" in the Location Field.
    2. Click on the  "Southern District of California - Document Filing System" hypertext link.
  3. Log in to CM/ECF .
    1. Enter your "PACER E-Filing" login and password.
      Note: If you have lost or forgotten your PACER login or password, click on this link.
    2. Check the box "I understand that, if I file, I must comply with the redaction rules."
  4. Click on the Manual link on the CM/ECF blue menu bar to access the filing procedure for the document to be filed.  
  5. Continue with filing your document(s).   
  6. Exiting CM/ECF
    1. Click on "Logout" from the ECF Menu Bar. 
    2. Click on the "X" at the top left corner of Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Quick Note

Live Database background is yellow.

A Live  PACER E-Filing login and password are needed to log into the live database. Contact the Training Department if one is needed.

Access the CM-ECF Manual via ECF by clicking on Manual on the menu bar.  This launches the manual to assist you with your filing.

Log out when done filing for your security. If you do not log out the system will automatically log you out after sitting idle for 20 minutes.
