This document event is to be used to restrict public access to an original document which included personal information (Bankruptcy Rule 9037).  This requires an exact copy of the original with only the personal identifiers redacted.   

IMPORTANT: Each affected case is charged a $26 redaction fee. File each amended redacted document separately using the document event listed in Step 5 of this procedure. Contact the court if this affects multiple cases.

  1. Select Bankruptcy or Adversary menu.
  2. Select Motions/Applications.
  3. Ensure correct case name and number match the document you are filing.
  4. Select party filer.
    • Party filer not listed, Add/Create New Party.
  5. Select Document Event: Restrict/Redact Public Access (Motion)(fee).
  6. Check the box "I certify that the document I am filing is an exact copy of the original with only the personal identifiers redacted."
  7. Browse, verify and attach the document (PDF file).
    • Attach supportive documents, if applicable.
  8. Check box at Refer to existing event(s). IMPORTANT:  Refer the motion to the document requiring restriction from public view.
  9. Select the appropriate category to locate document to be restricted from public access.
  10. Select the appropriate document.
  11. Modify text to add pertinent information, such as Amended, if applicable.
  12. Verify final docket text before submitting onto case docket.
  13. Print the Notice of Electronic Filing. It's your receipt.
    • Ensure that Order Granting Motion to Restrict Public Access (docket text) is on the Notice of Electronic Filing.
  14. Continue with your Credit Card Payment.

Quick Note

An order approving this Motion to Restrict Public Access is automatically entered on the case docket.

The filer will not be charged a reopening fee for filing a Motion to Restrict Public Access in a closed case.

The attached document must be an exact copy of the original document with only the personal identifiers redacted.

This docket entry restricts the originally filed document which included personal information.
